Earthquakes Earthquakes are distructive disasters. But have you ever wondered why and how earthquakes happen?
Earthquakes happen when the Earth's plates start acting weird. Earth's plates always act fast, so if one starts to get slow than the other plates are still going fast. So one plate that is going fast might get stuck in the plate that is going slow. But the plates are still moving, so the plates keep going and cause a vibration. That vibration is what is known as an earthquake.
Seismologist Seismologist study earthquakes. They use many tools to do this. They use seismographs to measure the intensity of an earthquake, and they use computers to help generate graphical models of the vibrations of the Earth.
Advantages and Disadvantages A seismologist has many advantages. Like, they get to use awesome tools, and they get to study earthquakes. But seismologist also have some disadvantages. A disadvantage is that the job is really hard, and they study for a really long time.
